Aura Guignard. The story behind the clothes.
Hi, my name is Orathai Guignard, and my journey into sewing began quite unexpectedly.
I graduated in Industrial Product Design (Rajamangala University of Technology) and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Phranakhon Rajabhat University. Yet, I never really worked as a product designer — life had other plans for me!
For over ten years, I worked as an interior designer in Bangkok, until life took me to Switzerland. One day, I started sewing simply to repair my friend’s torn pants. That little act soon turned into something much bigger. He asked me to design comfortable, durable climbing trousers, which led my lovely mother-in-law to mention how hard it was to find clothes that truly fit her.
She loves the Lagenlook style, but prefers it without too many frills or ruffles, so I began to play with pattern structure and silhouette instead. It was both challenging and exciting, and it opened a whole new way for me to express creativity through shape and form.
I’m deeply grateful to my universities for teaching me to think differently, embrace creativity, and stay true to my individuality.
Most nights, you’d find me online, researching sewing techniques, pattern making, and everything about garment construction. Each discovery drew me deeper into the beautiful world of fashion design.
Today, as a designer, I’m passionate about bringing my ideas to life — transforming imagination into fabric and form.
This passion became the heart of Aura Atelier de Couture, where every piece tells a small part of my story.
I’m grateful that you’ve taken a moment to explore my story. Thank you for joining me on this creative journey.
