Adapted from traditional Hmong “Se” pants, this design keeps the soul of its origins — simple, free, and full of character. Recut for balance and ease, it suits every body and every moment.
What makes it special:
This Se Sarouel is inspired by a traditional style of pants from Northern Thailand known for its clever construction and effortless drape.
Originally created by folding a long rectangle of fabric into shape, the design was simple, practical, and full of understated charm — a garment made for daily work, yet naturally elegant.
In reimagining this piece, I wanted to keep that quiet spirit — the sense of freedom and movement — while refining the silhouette for modern comfort.
The drop crotch has been softened for a more fluid shape, and I added two generous pockets to make it even more functional for everyday life.
The result is a pant that honors its origins yet feels fresh and timeless — relaxed, gender-free, and expressive in its simplicity.

You will receive the following files in PDF format:
- Se Sarouel description file for US Letter.
- A4 paper Print at home file.
- US Letter Print at home file.
- Copy Shop A0 paper file.
- Copy Shop 36” roll file.
Please note: The pattern does not include multiple sizes on a single sheet. You must select the print pages according to the table of contents. For A4 and US Letter, there are about 18–31 sheets. A0 has 1 or 2 sheets, and a 36” roll has 1 sheet.
Sizes:
- Se Sarouel with an elasticated waist are available in 8 sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, and 4XL.
- Hip sizes range of the finished garment from 107 to 166 cm (approximately 42″–67″). Refer to the measurements chart for details.
- The Sarouel length from 81 to 93 cm (approximately 31″–36″).

Material:
- Pants fabric weight 140-280 g/m². Width 1.4 m or 56”. Length of fabric: See Measurements chart.
- Waist elastic width 3 cm or 1″ ³/₁₆ measure 7.5 cm or 3″ shorter than the size of your waist. To check the fit, wrap it around your waist and pin the end of the elastic together. It should not be too loose.
- Thread in matching color.
